Gareth Pugh Autumn/Winter 2018 Fashion Show

Gareth Pugh just Grace Jonesed the fuck out of that runway.

I remember growing up and seeing shouldered suits and wondering why they were called "Power Shoulders", maybe because my mother and her friends didn't move around our tiny town as though they were marching into battle.

Gareth Pugh's looks always bring to mind the battle dress of some apocalyptic human culture trapped in an alien land. Even his tailored sheath dresses look like armor.  One corset had a bed of nails treatment protruding from a center panel. The enormity of some of the shoulders could strike fear into the hearts of the fiercest enemies, as the particular shade of ultraviolet blue he used hovers almost at the edge of our range of vision, vibrating with intensity.

I love the mixture of suiting, fur, and patent leather. The slouchy boots and giant shoulders remind me of how some animals make themselves appear bigger when confronting an enemy.

I'd march into battle with a crew this fierce. Photos below by Marcus Tondo/ Indigital.tv

It's My Party

This is one of my favorite editorials to look at for drawing reference. Lots of anatomy practice has been done looking at these photos. If anyone knows more about how to credit the publication, or photographers, let me know. I'd like to commend their amazing work.
